The oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world and sadly the only one that still remains largely intact, the Pyramids of Giza are the very reason a lot of people come to Egypt, and seeing them close-up never disappoints.

Composed of over 2.3 million blocks of granite weighing 25 – 80 tonnes each and constructed over a 20 year period concluding around 2560BC, the pyramids of Cairo was the tallest man-made structure for over 3,800 years, to this day we still do not know for sure exactly these amazing structures were built, although there are many theories.
During the Cairo tour we will give you much more information on the amazing Pyramids of Giza, and any questions you may have will be gladly answered by your professional, friendly Egyptologist tour guide.
Next we will head just outside of the City of Cairo to Sakkara in the Nile Valley  â home to the famous stepped pyramid where the pharohs and social elties of the Old Kingdom were buried.
Built in 2611 B.C, this pyramid reaches 62 meters high and is built from six stepped layers of stone.
The pyramid fields of Abusir were built after traditional burial sites of the 4th dynasty had been filled up, leading the pharaohs of the 5th dynasty to look for new land. The Stepped Pyramid of Djoser was built to hold Pharoh Djoser’s mummified body and was a significant step towards the great Pyramids of Giza with their precision architecture.
After a day exploring the ancient pyramids of Cairo, we will take you back to your hotel to relax, enjoy a delicious dinner in the City Centre and get some sleep ready for your next day exploring Luxor.
Your guide will come to collect you from your hotel at 4am where you will head back to Cairo airport for a 1 hour flight to Luxor airport.
On arrival at Luxor airport youâll be greeted by our Luxor tour guide, who will be showing you around the historic sights of Luxorâs East Bank.
Built in the ancient City of Thebes, what we today call Luxor, the Karnak Temples is one of the six great ancient Egyptian Temples. To the rear of the temple you’ll find chapels built to Tutmosis III and Alexander the Great, reminding visitors of the Temples past life as a Roman legionary fortress during the Roman era. Throughout history centuries of rubble from the Cities built up around the exmple slowly built up, partly burying it untill work began to excavate it in 1884.

We will pause for a mid-day lunch at a local restaurant, where you will find a range of international and local dishes. After lunch you will be taken to the magnificent Luxor Temple – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Constructed around 1400 BCE, your guide will show you around the temple complex which was built by Pharohs such as Tutankhamun and Ramesses II, and became a fortress under the Roman era.
After an exciting day visiting the magnificent ancient temples in the East bank for Luxor, you will be taken back to your hotel in Luxor city.
After a continental breakfast, we will head to the West Bank of Luxor to visit the Valley of the Kings the largest museum in the world.
You will start the tour of Luxor by crossing over to the West Bank to visit the Valley of Kings where, for a period of nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC, amazing tombs were constructed for the Pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom of Egypt. One of the most remarkable archeological destinations in the world, the valley is known to contain 63 tombs and chambers ranging in size from a simple pit to a complex tomb with over 120 chambers.

On our tour of the Valley of the Kings we will explore these magnificent tombs, belonging to past kings such as King Tutankhamamun and the Sons of Ramsess II. As we look around these intricately decorated tombs you will find informative signs at the entrance to each tomb, as-well as having a expert SharmExcursions.com tour guide for as much information as you would like to know.
Just as with the Pyramids, looking around the Valley of the Kings our guests regularly feel strong emotions of disbelief and intrigue at just how old the structures are, and how ahead of their time they were for such an ancient civilization.
“As for all men who shall enter this my tomb… impure… there will be judgment… an end shall be made for him… I shall seize his neck like a bird… I shall cast the fear of myself into him”
Since the 19th century authors and documentors have argued that the curse of the Pharohs is real, but it was not untill the opening of King Tutankhamun’s tomb by Howard Carter that the belief became more widespread. The man who sponsored the expeditions pet bird was eaten by a snake, and at the time he died in Egypt of delirious fever, his pet dog died back in England.
A rich American died of Pneumonia after visiting the tomb, and a member of the excavation team died of arsenic poisoning!
We’ll let you decide if the curse is real, or simply “clap-trap” as others have described it!
After exploring Luxor, we will travel back to Cairo, where youâll be met by our Cairo tour guide and taken to a 4* hotel in the city center.
Take this day to explore Cairo at your pace, explore the bazzars, local restaurants, parks and caféâs. Or if you prefer, book one of our Cairo day tours.
